New Delhi, Sep 18 US data storage company Seagate Technology on Friday introduced an 18TB helium-based enterprise hard drive as part of the Exos X18 family in India.

Exos X18 is the fifth-generation high capacity helium 3.5-inch 7200 RPM nearline enterprise drive with both SATA and SAS interfaces.

It will be available starting October 1 with Seagate's authorized distributors and partners. Both Exos X18 SATA and SAS interfaces will retail at Rs 64,000 and Rs 65,000, respectively.

"Seagate's Exos X18 hard drives and upgraded Exos Application Platform (AP) controllers enable enterprises to effectively tackle challenges associated with the exponential rise in data volumes by increasing system capacity and reducing deployment complexity," Ken Claffey, VP and GM of enterprise data solutions at Seagate Technology, said in a statement.

The hard drive supports hyperscale, datacenter, and enterprise NAS system storage challenges by enabling fast data transfers, lower power and weight compared with traditional nearline drives.

Exos X18 includes built-in data protection through Seagate Secure technology that provides for safe, affordable, fast, and easy drive retirement.
