UPI Down: Users across India reported a major outage in Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Many faced difficulties completing transactions as popular payment platforms and banking apps stopped functioning. Outage-tracking website Downdetector showed a sharp rise in complaints during the evening. Around 7 p.m., the platform recorded about 547 reports related to UPI issues.
Users took to social media platform X to report that they were unable to send money, pay merchants or scan QR codes despite trying different banks and networks. Several users shared screenshots showing error messages such as “service provider not available” on Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm. Posts on X included messages such as “UPI down – tried three banks, still failing” and “GPay down or UPI down?”, with many tagging the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which operates UPI.
The State Bank of India (SBI) said there was a temporary disruption due to scheduled maintenance. “Due to scheduled maintenance activity, SBI UPI services will be temporarily unavailable from 02:00 hrs to 02:45 hrs on 11.02.2026 (IST). Customers may continue to use UPI Lite Services for uninterrupted service. We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers,” the bank said in a post on X.
NPCI had not issued an official statement on a wider outage at the time of writing.
UPI is one of India’s most widely used digital payment systems, processing billions of transactions every month. The disruption caused inconvenience to users, especially during peak evening hours.
