Users of Vodafone and Idea network suffered with significant outage on Friday morning were many people reported that they face total blackout as they were unable to make call or receive any signal. The network downtime has been confirmed by the outage report platform down detector which saw a massive spike of over 1,500 reports around 1:02 am in the country with the actual outage faced starting from 12:00 am.

Most of the outage report on the platform was related to no signal and over 25 percent of the Vi users complained about total blackout which is not a rosy situation to be in. It seems the outage at Vi was not part of a regular drill and many of its users lashed out at the telecom operator for the blackout in the middle of the night.

Widespread VI network outage impacted significantly on users in major Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata. Vi acknowledged the disruption, citing a technical issue in NCR region early Friday and stating that services has been restored. The outage prevented users from receiving OTPs for essential services like payments and food delivery, particularly affecting late-night users who rely on improved network reception. Social media reflected user frustration, with some considering switching providers.

This incident comes amidst Vi's delayed 5G rollout, currently limited to select cities, which has already contributed to subscriber losses to competitors offering better service and 5G capabilities.
