Several users in India are facing a login issue on the desktop version of Meta-owned WhatsApp on Friday morning, February 27. Some users say their chats are not loading on WhatsApp Web and are getting logged out frequently. Users also complained that messages are not getting synced with the desktop version of WhatsApp.
According to the outrage tracking platform Downdetector.in, several users reported that they are unable to use the website, approximately 50% users face issues, while 44% are facing problems accessing the mobile application and 6% users are struggling with messaging problems. The spike on Downdetector was seen at around 9.30 am with 28 users reported problem on Friday.
Frustrated users took to X (formerly Twitter) to report problems linking WhatsApp Web to their mobile phones and QR code scanning.
One user wrote, “Is #WhatsApp down? Unable to log in on other devices — it’s just not connecting. Anyone else?.”
One user said, 'I'm about to cry, I've tried logging into WhatsApp Web so many times, I've tried with both of my numbers, tried on the WA app, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla, Chrome, turns out it's really erroring out for everyone, no one can log in either."
Unlike major global outages that take down the entire ecosystem, this disruption was isolated to the Web and Desktop versions. The smartphone application on both Android and iOS continued to send and receive messages without delay.
