MSLTA Yonex Sunrise tennis tournament from January 27

Putting their best foot forward to promote budding tennis players, the Maha Tennis Association foundation and Adar Poonawalla Maharashtra Tennis Academy have organised the MSLTA Yonex Sunrise APMTA All India Ranking National Series (7) tournament for boys and girls in the Under-16 age category.

The national tournament will be held at the Deccan Gymkhana, Pune, between January 27-31.

The format of the tennis tournament will see two days of qualifying rounds to be held on January 25 and 26. The battle for the top prize begins once the main draw of matches begins on January 27 with the final round of matches being held on January 31. The organizers have received a number of registrations with 60 players finally making the cut to the qualifying round.

Speaking about the tournament, Prashant Sutar, President of Maha Tennis Foundation, said: "It is a matter of great honour and privilege to have the Adar Poonawalla Maharashtra Tennis Academy as our partners for this tournament. As we endeavour to organize tournaments that offer the highest quality of tennis and feature the best talent around, it is important for our partners to have the same drive as us."

"As organizers, our best interests lie in producing quality players and boost the tennis talent in the state. With us sharing the same ethos as Adar Poonawalla Maharashtra Tennis Academy, we hope to deliver a memorable tournament this year," he added.

The tournament is helmed by The All India Tennis Association (AITA), the governing body of tennis in India.
