Mumbai : Major fire broke out at the chemical factory in Ambernath Anandnagar MIDC here at 6 pm on Monday. After that, a huge explosion of drums filled with chemicals in the factory took place one after the other, and the fire took a violent form within a few minutes. The explosion caused the fire to spread to two factories adjacent to Shri Ganesh Chemicals. The cause of the fire is not clear.

Following a fire, all workers were immediately evacuated. No casualties were reported, according to MIDC Engineer Sudhir Kumbhar. MIDC fire brigade personnel, along with fire brigades from Taloja MIDC, Ambernath, Badlapur, Ulhasnagar, and Kalyan, brought the fire under control by approximately 8:30 pm. Cooling operations then commenced.

Tremors felt up to two kilometers

A series of powerful explosions rocked Anandnagar MIDC in the evening, originating from a large chemical stock at the Shri Ganesh Chemicals factory. Workers in factories as far as two kilometers away felt the tremors. The explosions caused a chemical spill and subsequent fire, hindering efforts to control the blaze. A large crowd of onlookers initially gathered, but dispersed as the explosions intensified. Police intervened to manage the crowd, some of whom were filming the incident.
