In a decisive move to ensure monsoon preparedness, Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao has ordered the completion of all road repair works across the municipal area by May 15, including crucial projects at Eastern Express Highway, Kapurbawdi Junction, Ghodbunder Road, and Gaimukh Ghat, following a comprehensive inspection of ongoing construction activities on Friday.

Commissioner Rao issued strict directives to all agencies including the Municipal Corporation, Public Works Department, Metro, and MMRDA to ensure all roads are made traffic-worthy before the onset of monsoon. The inspection tour focused specifically on monsoon readiness and was attended by key officials including Additional Commissioner Prashant Rode, City Engineer Prashant Sonagra, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Pankaj Shirsat, Assistant Director of Town Planning Sangram Kanade, and senior engineering officials from MMRDA and Metro.

A joint inspection tour was organized with representatives from all Thane municipal agencies, Public Works Department, Metro, MMRDA, Mahavitaran, and Traffic Police to coordinate monsoon preparations. The inspection covered the stretch from Cadbury Junction to Gaimukh, with particular attention to traffic congestion hotspots and potential solutions. "All road repairs, concretization work, drain cleaning, and the two flyover projects must be completed by May 15," Commissioner Rao emphasized.

The Commissioner announced that progress reviews will be conducted every fifteen days to ensure adherence to the timeline. He stressed that coordination meetings regarding Ghodbunder Road issues will continue regularly, and all internal roads must be properly maintained to prevent traffic congestion and waterlogging during heavy rains. "We are making all efforts for a pothole-free Thane," Rao stated.

The inspection included the service road near Jupiter Hospital on Eastern Express Highway, Metro construction at Kapurbawdi Junction, and ongoing Metro and water pipeline work from the petrol pump to Nalpada Junction near Cinewonder Mall. Officials also inspected Ghodbunder Road service roads, flyover-adjacent drainage systems, Patlipada flyover junction, Batata Company area, Anandnagar Junction, roads under the Kasarvadavli flyover, Bhayanderpada flyover, Nagla Bandar Junction, and Gaimukh Ghat area.

Majiwada to Cadbury Junction Service Road

Commissioner Rao instructed immediate repair of sections where water pipeline installation has been completed along the Majiwada to Cadbury Junction service road, directing that the entire project be expedited to reopen the full service road to traffic as soon as possible.

Kapurbawdi Junction

At Kapurbawdi Junction, the Commissioner called for additional traffic wardens until Metro construction is completed, emphasizing the need for vigilance to maintain smooth traffic flow. Metro officials announced that the small bridge near the Paper Company would be opened for small vehicles by April 20.

Flyover Deadlines

MMRDA officials confirmed that the Bhayanderpada flyover would be completed by April 15 and the Kasarvadavli flyover by May 15. They also committed to repairing uneven road surfaces under the Metro route before monsoon arrives. Mahavitaran was instructed to expedite the relocation of utilities near the Kasarvadavli flyover.

Gaimukh Ghat Repairs

Public Works Department officials reported ongoing repairs to an 800-meter stretch at Gaimukh Ghat, noting that the work follows last year's repair methodology with technical guidance from IIT experts.
