In a significant breakthrough, the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of Thane Crime Branch arrested Vinod Funnan Maurya, a wanted accused in a sex racket case, from Ambivli village near Hanuman Mandir in Pandit Chawl. Maurya was on the run in connection with CR No. 234/2025 registered under BNS sections 143(1), 143(3), and 3(5) at the Bazarpeth Police Station in Kalyan.

Acting on a tip-off, the AHTC team swiftly traced Maurya to the location and apprehended him without incident. He has been handed over to Bazarpeth Police for further investigation.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior officials from Thane Commissionerate and led by PSI Snehal Shinde, ASI Shraddha Kadam along with the AHTC Thane team.

Authorities suspect Maurya's involvement in a wider trafficking network and further interrogation is underway.
