The body of a five-month-old baby boy was found near a nullah in Maharashtra’s Thane city. Passersby spotted the infant’s body near a nullah carrying wastewater in the Waghoba Nagar area of Kalwa on Sunday morning and alerted the local police, reported the news agency PTI, quoting a local police official on Tuesday, April 22.

The dead body was sent for the post-mortem to a nearby government hospital and the investigation has been initiated to find out the parents of the infant.

The police have registered a case against unidentified persons under section 94 (concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. The identity of the culprits behind this remains unknown. Police are taking the help of local people to identify the body.
