Thane: Major fire broke out at the residential building in Diva, on April 1, 2026 morning. Fire was swiftly brought under control by the authorities. Fortunately no injuries were reported in this case.  At approximately 1:54 am, the Diva Beat Fire Station reported a fire at Baburao Residency near Hanuman Temple, close to Diva Railway Station (Diva West), as per the Thane Municipal Corporation's Disaster Management Cell.

The fire started in the kitchen of Room No. 103, owned by Dinesh Sawant and occupied by Sushil Mestri, on the first floor of the ground-plus-four-storey building. A short circuit in the kitchen's electrical board triggered the fire, which spread to the refrigerator.

Firefighters contained the blaze, and no injuries were reported. Meanwhile, a  stray dog was brutally beaten to death. This incident occurred in a housing society in Thane, which has created a tension environment among the residents.

Following this incident, police has registered a case against the unidentified person. Authorities have launched a search operation to find the accuse.
