In a significant boost for commuters in Thane district, four key railway stations — Diva, Titwala, Shahad and Belapur — will be redeveloped under the Centre’s “Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.” Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the inclusion of these stations as part of a ₹110.4 crore initiative aimed at transforming passenger experience with modern amenities and infrastructure upgrades. Diva station alone will see an investment of ₹45 crore, followed by ₹32 crore for Belapur, ₹25 crore for Titwala, and ₹8.4 crore for Shahad.

The announcement was made during a press conference attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Minister Vaishnaw, where Fadnavis extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for prioritizing Maharashtra in this national scheme. Overall, 132 stations across the state have been selected for redevelopment.

Once completed, passengers will benefit from facilities such as waiting lounges, food courts, clean toilets, lifts, escalators, and digital services. The stations will also see architectural upgrades and improved integration with nearby urban areas.

Additionally, Dombivli station from the Kalyan-Dombivli region has also been selected under the same scheme. Officials believe the revamp will significantly enhance the travel experience for rail users in Thane district.
