Thane: A tragic incident was reported in city were a 10-year-old boy died boy drowned while swimming in a lake. This tragedy occurred in the Mogarpada area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Kasarvadavali police station. According to officials, the boy had gone to the lake with his friends and entered the water for a swim, during which he drowned.
According to PTI, his friends immediately raised an alarm, prompting a swift response from the police and fire brigade teams. After a search operation, the boy’s body was recovered from the lake. Police have registered a case of accidental death and further investigation is underway, an official stated.
On the other hand, in Thane's Majiwada a 75-year-old got injured after a portion of a ceiling slab collapsed in a residential building. This incident occurred on April 2, 2026 around 3:55pm at Velankanni Building, a 35-year-old structure located near Fatima Church. As per the information provided by the disaster management cell the slab of room No. 103 on the first floor gave way.

Assistant Commissioner Sonal Kale, along with teams from the Public Works Department, Fire Brigade, and Encroachment Department, coordinated emergency operations at the site. The building, classified as C2A (Dangerous), has been fully evacuated. Officials report it contains 12 flats housing approximately 45 reside
