Bhiwandi: A fight erupted between two groups of BJP MLA Mahesh Choughule and former mayor Vilas Patil, video of which has surfaced on social media. The incident occurred around 9 PM on Sunday night. Supporters of Vilas Patil stormed into MLA Mahesh Choughule's office at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk and brutally assaulted his party workers. Following the incident police arrived promptly and brought the situation under control, but considerable tension prevails in the area.
In the municipal corporation elections, BJP MLA Mahesh Choughule's son, Mit Choughule, and former mayor Vilas Patil's son, Mayuresh Patil, were contesting against each other in Ward One.bPatil defeated Choughule. However, clashes between the two groups had been occurring since the filing of nomination papers.
According to reports on late Sunday evening, while Vilas Patil was thanking his voters, supporters of the BJP MLA attacked Vilas Patil's house. Upon learning of this attack, Vilas Patil and his supporters retaliated by storming into MLA Mahesh Choughule's office at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk and severely beating Choughule's supporters. A large police contingent has been deployed in the area, and tension remains high.

Initially, MLA Mahesh Choughule's supporters attacked Vilas Patil's house. A video of this incident has gone viral, clearly showing Mahesh Choughule's son, Mit Choughule, leading BJP workers in the attack on Vilas Patil's residence. The process of filing a case at the Nizampura police station is underway.
