In a shocking development that exposes shoddy infrastructure work, a section of the Dativali lake wall in Diva collapsed around 5 AM today, damaging an auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle that fell into the lake. The incident has raised serious concerns about the quality of the beautification project that has been progressing at a snail's pace for over two years.

Local residents expressed grave concerns that if the collapse had occurred during daytime hours, there could have been significant casualties. The lake beautification project, which falls under the Thane Municipal Corporation jurisdiction, has been plagued by delays and alleged negligence by the administration.

MNS leader Raju Patil took to social media to criticize the incident, stating, "'Thane's rickshaw' has fallen into the pothole of corruption! A newly constructed wall collapsed during the 5 crore rupee beautification work at Dativali lake in Diva. The contractor is certainly confident that no investigation will take place due to the percentage of bribes filling the mouths of Thane's contractors and officials."

Patil further lamented the deteriorating condition of Diva, saying, "Citizens of Diva division, who are suffering from tremendous mismanagement and mired in corruption, have become accustomed to all this. The Diva division, situated in a geographical location where an excellent city could be developed, is becoming more dilapidated day by day due to the corruption of politicians and officials."
