George Floyd, an African-American man from Minnesota aged 46, a native of Houston who had moved to Minneapolis several years ago died on 25th May evening shortly after Derek Chauvin, a white Minneapolis police officer, held him down with a knee on his neck although the victim repeatedly pleaded, "I can't breathe", and "please, I can't breathe".
