Sri Lankan cricket has landed in trouble once again for the their off-field activities. In the latest development, as per a CricTracker report, a young cricketer from the current squad has found himself in a sex scandal. As per the report, the incident took place during the ongoing Test series against England. The youngster, who is in his early twenties, was caught with a female official of the Sri Lanka squad in a hotel room. The players from both the teams have been confined to their hotel rooms as the Test series is being conducted in a bio-secure bubble owing to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.This is not the first time that Sri Lanka Cricket encountered such incidents as it is believed that the accused female official was caught in the act a number of times before too. Also, during the Sri Lanka tour of South Africa, where the visitors succumbed to a massive series defeat by 0-2, many players were caught smoking, boozing and doing other inappropriate activities before the important games. “The incident has been apparently reported to the Colombo headquarters of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) by the team management in Galle. The player’s misconduct is not a new thing. Similar types of sexual misconduct have been going on for a long time. The same female official has been involved on many occasions on such incidents. But the authorities have kept a blind eye. “Such sexual misbehaviour had been happening during Sri Lanka’s recent visit to South Africa too. This is only a part of our players’ bad conduct during important series. Some of them are into smoking and boozing during important matches, and this is something in addition to those,” a source said as quoted by The Sunday Morning. After England's seven-wicket win in Galle to take a 1-0 lead in the two-Test series, head coach Mickey Arthur termed Sri Lanka's first innings outing as "unacceptable". Sri Lanka had the toss advantage after opting to bat against an England side that had come to their shores with little preparation. However, bowled out for a meagre 135, Sri Lanka were outplayed with both bat and ball, handing over that advantage to England quite timidly. It was on similar lines to the capitulation against South Africa at the Wanderers earlier in the month, where Sri Lanka were bowled out for 157 and 211 as South Africa bagged a ten-wicket win to take the series 2-0 after an innings defeat in the first Test.Sri Lanka turned the corner in the second innings, putting up a stoic fight after England piled on 421 on the back of Joe Root's double century. Kusal Perera, Lahiru Thirimanne and Angelo Mathews resisted England's bowlers giving Sri Lanka 359. The second test is slated to commence from tomorrow as Joe Root's men will look to sweep Sri Lanka in the final Test
