Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Mohammad Ali Hosseini Alavi Gorgani is an Iranian Twelver Shi'a marja. He was born in a religious family in Golestan, Iran. He rose to a leading scholar in Najaf, and moved to Qom in 1979.
