Thieves targeted farmers in the Waluj Mahanagar by vandalising 8 to 10 electric pumps and stealing copper wiring worth lakhs of rupees from farms along the Kham River in Waldgaon. The incident has triggered fear and anger among farmers already struggling during the peak summer season.

The theft took place in Gut No. 8 and 12 near the Waluj industrial area, where farmers use electric pumps for irrigation. Miscreants allegedly dismantled several motors, stealing copper wires and severely damaging the pumps. Farmers suffered major losses. The incident came to light on Tuesday morning after Vinayak Jhalke noticed the damaged pumps and alerted others. With temperatures rising, farmers now fear crop damage due to disruption in water supply, adding to their financial losses. Following the incident, a team from Satara police station began an investigation under the guidance of senior police inspector Krishna Shinde. Farmers have demanded immediate action against the culprits and compensation for the losses.
