Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

To prevent untoward incidents during Dhulivandan on Tuesday, 1,500 police personnel will be deployed across key areas, streets, and chowks from early morning. Special teams from the crime branch and riot control units are stationed at Krantichaok, Canaught Place, Shahganj, and Jinsi. Walls of sensitive prayer sites have been instructed to be covered with bamboo mats or other protective measures.

The city has already witnessed Dhulivandan celebrations since Monday, with college and school students applying colors. Youth groups gathering in various areas can sometimes lead to disputes, forceful coloring, abusive language, and balloon throwing. Commissioner of police Pravin Pawar held a meeting with all station heads, directing heightened vigilance.

Morning Procession (10 am – 2 pm):

The traditional procession starts from Sansthan Ganpati Temple and will pass through Shahganj → Gandhi Chowk → Sarafa Bazaar → City Chowk → Machli Khadak → Gulmandi → Rangargalli → Supari Hanuman Temple → Pandariba Road → Appa Halwai → Kirana Chawdi.

Security Setup:

• 86 fixed police points in sensitive areas, each with 1 armed officer and 3 constables.

• 1 Assistant sub-inspector and constables patrolling the jurisdiction all day.

• 2 Crime Branch assistant police inspectors, 1 police sub-inspector, and 10 constables patrolling continuously.

• Total deployment: 29 police inspectors, 51 assistant/sub-inspectors, 691 constables, riot control teams, and armed SRPF jawans at main chowks.

Citizen Advisory:

Residents and youth are urged to celebrate with enthusiasm but maintain peace. Bullying, rowdy behavior, or attempts to create tension will be dealt with strictly. Citizens should report any such incidents directly to control room 112.

— Pravin Pawar, Police Commissioner
