A 22-year-old orphan, who had lost his parents at the age of six, allegedly died by suicide after jumping into Harsul lake under mental stress.

The deceased has been identified as Saurabh Pokale (22, a native of Kolhapur) who lost his parents at the age of six, allegedly died by suicide by jumping into Harsul lake on April 25 morning due to mental stress. At around 9 am, Ravindra Shinde informed the fire brigade about a youth drowning. Fire officer R.R. Sonawane and personnels conducted a nearly hour-long search and recovered him, but he had died. Police inspector Swati Kedar of Harsul police station visited the spot. Saurabh had lived in a child correction home until the age of 20 and later secured a job in Kolhapur. He had come to the city four days ago and was staying with a friend from the home. He reportedly left the room suddenly before jumping into the lake. The exact cause is under investigation, police said.
