2L registered citizens waiting for first dose of Covid-19 vaccine
Aurangabad, May 17:
Around 2 lakh citizens of age 18 to 44 years are waiting for their turn to get the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine for the past many days. Earlier, the state government had started the vaccination drive for the above age group of citizens from May 1 but halted after 10-12 days due to a shortage of vaccines.
It may be noted that in response to the drive, around 2 lakh citizens had registered their names to get the vaccine on CoWin App, but they had not yet received the slot. Hence they are impatiently waiting to get the first dose as early as possible.
The municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar said, " As per the directives of the state government, we had started six vaccination centres to administer the vaccine to the above age group of persons registering their names on the mobile app. Each centre was administering vaccines to 200 persons. However, the state government stopped the drive suddenly due to insufficient stock of vaccines. The drive will resume after receiving fresh orders."
