Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Zilla Parishad Agriculture Subject Committee members put forward a significant proposal to the administration to organise a three-day "Grain Festival" at the district level in their meeting held recently.
The idea behind the initiative is to enable direct transactions between farmers and consumers and reduce the role of middlemen. ZP Vice-President and Agriculture Committee Chairman Jitendra Jaiswal chaired the meeting and discussed various agriculture-related issues.
Members called for a grain festival to directly connect farmers with consumers. Those present included Gitanjali Pathrikar, Arjun Patil, Ayesha Begum Syed and Kalyan Gaikwad.

Priority to Organic Farming
Strong dissatisfaction was expressed over the quality of BT cotton seeds. Members noted that varieties such as DCH-32 and Nanded-44 yield better output, and demanded that internationally standard BT varieties be made available. They also stressed the need to raise public awareness about organic farming and chemical-free food production.
