Aurangabad, March 8:

The health sources claimed that 893 persons were detected as Covid-19, out of the total 2,617 SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Illness) patients traced by the administration during the last one year.

The first Coronavirus infected person was detected in the city during March 2020. The patients suffering from SARI were also being detected, simultaneously. Initially, the strength of Covid-19 patients was less compared to SARI patients. Later on, the Coronavirus infection started to spread in the city in May, the figures of SARI patients remained under control.

The symptoms of SARI and Covid-19 are identical. Hence the health administration was conducting Covid-19 tests of each patient found suffering from SARI. The practice is underway. On Sunday, the lab report detected four SARI patients, and out of it, one was reported as Covid-19 positive.

So far, 2,617 SARI patients were traced, out of which the health administration conducted RT-PCR tests on 2,608 persons. Out of which, 893 persons had been reported as Covid-19 positives. Ironically, 17 persons died of SARI so far.
