Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Around 97 per cent candidates appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) at 50 different centres of the city on Sunday.
There was confusion among students at some centres about the dress code, though the NTA released guidelines for this. District Coordinator Anil Yadav said that 17, 374 candidates registered for the test from the district.
“Of them, 16,986 (97 pc) took the examination at 50 different centres between 2 pm and 5 pm today. The NEET was held smoothly at all the centres,” he said.
Candidates were granted entry into the exam hall only after undergoing thorough frisking and biometric verification. Biometric attendance of all candidates was taken. There were long queues at the centres before the commencement of the paper.
The entrance gate was opened at 11 am and was closed at 1.30 pm sharp. The staff at the centres checked the admit card and ID proof strictly.
Taking into heat in summer season, medical teams and ambulances were kept ready. Arrangements were made to ensure immediate assistance reaches any centre if required.

Difficulty level of paper was moderate
Talking to this newspaper, some of the aspirants said that the difficulty level of NEET-2026 was moderate compared to NEET-2025. Other students said that the formula-based questions of the Physics subject paper were difficult.
"Biology was easy, and Chemistry was easy to moderate. Some questions were concept-based while others were application-based. The paper was time-consuming this time around,” they said.
