Mumbai, Pune, Ratnagiri women teams enter knockout stage

Palghar, Kolhapur, Nashik, and Nanded finished as runners-up. In the women’s category, Nagpur City lost to Mumbai Suburban by 26–40, while Thane defeated Nagpur Rural 42–22. Ratnagiri registered a dominant 45–20 win over Nagpur Rural. In other matches, Kolhapur defeated Satara 39–13, and Pune beat Jalna 33–17 to move ahead in the tournament. In an exciting match between Ratnagiri and Nanded, Ratnagiri won 26–20. Palghar defeated Parbhani by 24 points, with a final score of 62–38. In other matches, Amravati lost to Mumbai City 13–44, while Nashik overcame Washim 34–25. Mumbai Suburban edged past Palghar 29–25 in a close contest. Nanded defeated Thane 29–25. In the women’s final, Pune beat Washim convincingly by 46–20.

In the men’s league stage, Ahilyanagar, Kolhapur district, Mumbai City, and Pune district topped their respective groups. Mumbai Suburban, Nashik, Sambhajinagar, and Thane finished as runners-up.

Actor Riteish Deshmukh to visit venue

The tournament, organised jointly by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services (Nagpur Division), Vidarbha Amateur Kabaddi Association, and Nagpur Rural Kabaddi Association, will conclude on Monday with a prize distribution ceremony.

The event will be held at the Sevnanad Vidyalaya ground in Koradi. Renowned film actor Riteish Deshmukh will attend as the chief guest. Revenue Minister and Nagpur District Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Minister of State Ashish Jaiswal, and other dignitaries will also be present.

Nagpur Rural Kabaddi Association president Sanket Bawankule, District Sports Officer Pallavi Dhatrak, and NMC Sports Officer Piyush Ambulkar have appealed to kabaddi enthusiasts to attend the event in large numbers.
