Action against 15,000 citizens violating corona rules

Aurangabad, May 11:

Taking cognizance of the rapid rise in corona infection in rural areas, the police are taking direct action against the citizens violating curfew and break the chain rules. From April 1 to May 11, 377 cases were registered in various police stations in the district. Punitive action has been taken against 4,436 citizens traveling without masks and 10,643 motorists driving without permission.

A curfew has been imposed under Break the Chain to prevent corona infection in rural areas. It is also prohibited to go outside the district without permission. However, corona infection is on the rise in rural areas as compared to Aurangabad city. With this in mind, the police have started a crackdown on violators to prevent further spread in rural areas. Police have been performing strict checking on various roads and intersections. From April 1 to May 11, the police, with the help of the local administration, collected fine of Rs 4,12,750 from 4,436 citizens not wearing masks, while action was taken against 10,643 motorists violating traffic rules under the Motor Vehicles Act. A fine of Rs 23.67 lakh was imposed on the violators. Essential service shops are allowed to open from 7 am to 11 am during the lockdown period. Meanwhile, the police took punitive action against 234 shop owners who were operating without permission and for more than the stipulated time.
