Agitator Ramesh Kere Patil launched this hunger strike on Sunday. Different Maratha organisations have come together to start a Maratha reservation Chintan agitation at Kranti Chowk.

The agitators made 14 different demands, including the implementation of reservation for the Maratha community, the immediate resolution of the pending demands of SARTHI's research students, Minister Dhananjay Munde's resignation until the investigation into the brutal murder of Massajog Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh is completed and the withdrawal of the cases against the Maratha reservation protesters.

Reservation struggle scholar Dr Rajendra Date, Kishor Chavan of Chhawa, MKM coordinator Ravindra Kale, Rahul Patil, Santosh Kale Patil and Sanket Shete are participating in the agitation by saying that the hunger strike will continue until these demands are met.

The protesters were chanting slogans like ‘Ek Maratha, Lakh Maratha.’ The Kranti Chowk area reverberated with the slogans.
