AMC dedicates 3 sweeping machines to maintain 52 dust-free roads in city

Aurangabad, May 24:

Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL) has procured three dust sweeping machines for Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) under Smart City Project. After demonstrations, these machines have been commissioned on the task of maintaining dust-free roads in the city, said the ASCDCL chief executive officer and municipal commissioner, A K Pandey.

The flagging-off ceremony of these machines, by MLAs, was held, at the district collectorate, today. The commissioner of police (CP) Nikhil Gupta, superintendent of police (SP) Mokshada Patil, AMC deputy commissioner Nandkishore Bhombe and deputy engineer (mechanical section) Devidas Pandit were present on the occasion. Earlier, the dust sweepers were inaugurated by the district guardian minister Subhash Desai in the city on May 17.

It may be noted that the AMC had one big truck mounted sweeping machine for cleaning of important roads, however, the civic body was not having the machines to clean the narrow roads. Understanding the need, the ASCDCL procured 3 jeep-mounted road sweeping machines from an Ahmedabad-based Maniyar and Co. The cost of each machine is Rs 32 lakh. These single-engine vehicles are used for the operation of sweeping brushes and vacuum, while the cleaning brushes in the sides and the centre gather the dust, which is then absorbed into the pipe through the vacuum.

The machines with a sweeping width of 5.25 feet can sweep the road dust at the speed of 2 to 3 kilometres per hour. The machines have a dust container capacity of 1.4 cubic metres and a tipping angle of 45 degrees. Each machine has the capacity to sweep 10 to 15 kilometres of roads every day.
