Aurangabad, July 12:

The anti-encroachment squad of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today was active in freeing the roads from hawkers causing traffic nuisance on important roads in the city. Nowadays, the hawkers are three-wheelers and four-wheelers, apart from the handcarts to sell the items. The irresponsible parking of hawkers-vehicles leads to traffic congestion on the roads in the city. Hence, the civic body learnt about the inconvenience faced by the vehicle-owners, during the peak hours.

Sensing seriousness, under guidance of the AMC administrator A K Pandey, the additional commissioner R P Nikam supervised the squad to remove hawkers/vendors selling flowers, fruits, pots, saplings of trees, etc on handcarts, vehicles in various parts of the city including N-5 Cidco, Cidco Bus Stand, Seven Hills to Garkheda Road, Gajanan Maharaj Mandir Road and Dr. Hedgewar Hospital areas. The squad also seized tin sheds, tarpaulin used by the encroachers. The designated officers Savita Sonawane, R S Rachatwar along with building inspector Mazhar Ali, P B Gaoli, R M Surase, and security personnel took the action.
