AMC shares Rs 70 crores in Smart City Scheme

Aurangabad, July 1:

After being selected in the smart city scheme, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has started the preparations to give its share of Rs 70 crores for the scheme. Moreover, the AMC will have to pay a total of Rs 174 crores for the entire scheme.

The union government’s urban development ministry reviewed the Smart City Scheme implemented across the country. The secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, director of the Smart Cities Mission Kunal Kumar, urban development department principal secretary, and Smart City CEO and officers were present. State urban department principal secretary Mahesh Pathak, AMC administrator Astik Kumar Pandey, additional CEO Arun Shinde were present through the video conferencing.

AMC was informed that if the corporation did not give its share for the scheme, it could face hurdles from getting the funds from the union and state governments. In the smart city scheme, the union government, state government and the local self-help institute has the 50, 25, 25 percent share respectively. The entire project is Rs 1,000 crores, while the AMC will have to pay Rs 174 initially.

During the meeting, directives were given to facilitate the smart city project. Similarly, the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) and Master System Integrator (MSI) projects should be completed soon. Administrator Pandey informed that the tenders have been prepared for completing the projects.
