Aurangabad, Jan 18:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has shifted all the five COVID vaccination centres from its health centres to big private hospitals in the city. The centres will start functioning from tomorrow (Jan 19). Earlier, many health care personnel had complained of reaction due to Covid-19 vaccine on the first day of the drive on Jan 16.

The AMC had set up the COVID vaccination centres in the health centres at Bansilalnagar, Bhimnagar, Sadatnagar, Cidco N-8 and Cidco N-11. These centres are shifted to five private hospitals like MGM, Hedgewar, Dhoot, Bajaj and Medicover. The vaccination to the beneficiaries (doctors and paramedical staff) will be administered by private medical staff in the presence of the AMC squad. The decision of shifting aims at providing immediate treatment facility to beneficiary on reporting of any sort of reaction due to the vaccine said the municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar.

CoWIN App begins

The union Government has halted the mega vaccinate drive for two days after the defunct of CoWin App. On the first day of launching the vaccination, the AMC medical officers and staff had to crack hard nuts. Till late in the night they were busy in sending messages on the mobile phones from the Control Room, while in the day time, the staff at each centre were making phone calls to beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, the deputy directorate of health has appointed a squad to look after the functioning of CoWIN app, today. The squad has started sending the mobile messages to beneficiaries from the rural areas. " The task of sending messages to 500 beneficiaries from the city got started the afternoon. The task of sending messages was consuming time due to slow functioning of CoWIN App," said the MoH.
