Aurangabad, Jan 24:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) project to start the petrol pumps at six places appears on a snail’s pace.

The AMC administrator, Astik Kumar Pande made a plan to start petrol pumps to increase the revenue. It was decided to seek the help of oil companies would be taken for the installation of petrol pumps at six places.

The civic body will provide land and some staff while oil companies will give rent to it. The AMC vehicles will get fuel at company rate while private vehicles will be charged market price.

The land was fixed at Central Naka, Harsul-Saungi Naka, Kanchanwadi, Dugdhanagri, Gaimukh Parisar and Garware Stadium for six petrol pumps.

The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) was permitted to start installing the pump, but no objection certificate was not obtained from the different Government departments during the last six months. The project is at snail’s pace.

The AMC had an experience of running its own diesel pump at the Central Naka premises for many years. The pump was closed because of the lethargic attitude of its officers and employees.

The AMC officers are showing apathy to launch new petrol pump.
