Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A woman who was going through divorce proceedings with her husband was exploited by a man for two years on the pretext of marrying her. After repeatedly assaulting her for over two years, when the victim pressed him to marry her, he abused and beat her. Based on the victim's complaint, Cantonment police registered a case against three persons. The accused include Chandrakant Ravsaheb Nawpute (TV Centre), his wife, and his mother.

According to the complaint filed by the 35-year-old woman, she is currently involved in a court dispute with her husband. Due to the ongoing divorce, she lives with her parents and daughter. In 2023, Chandrakant became acquainted with the victim at their workplace.

After this acquaintance turned into friendship, the accused came to the victim's home in January 2024 and, claiming his wife was frequently ill and that he would soon divorce her, established a physical relationship with her on the promise of marriage. He then repeatedly assaulted her at her home as well as at Hotel Seven Apple, using marriage as a lure.

In December 2025, when she told him that he had been making promises of marriage for two years but not following through, he abused and beat her, the complaint states. PSI Geeta Hake is investigating the case.
