Aurangabad has huge tourism potential : Dilip Kumar

Aurangabad, July 7:

Thespian of Indian films and yesteryear's megastar Dilip Kumar was impressed with the tourism potential of the city and its unique and diverse culture.

Dilip Kumar loved Aurangabad The actor loved Aurangabad and Khuldabad very much. He would regularly visit Khuldabad. He has seen growing Aurangabad into a big city. He once graced Khuldabad's Chistiya Education Society's ' qawwali' and 'mushaira' programme organised at Vikram Stadium (near the police commissioner office) and it lasted till late in the night. His wife Saira Bano got restless during the programme. As a result, she left for Khuldabad's guest house to take a rest. He was having a great sense of humour and addressed the audience in his style in the last so that the audience remains seated. He stayed for five days in Khuldabad. Later on, once he attended the OBC function held at Shahgunj. He also inaugurated an industrial programme Maha Expo in the city. As a first citizen, I received him at the Chikalthana Airport. I also made his introductory speech at the programme. In a lighter vein, he drew a round of applause by saying," The city's mayor is Mamu, but I am the Mamu of you all."

Aurangabad has huge tourism potential

The thespian actor Dilip Kumar had visited the city to inaugurated Anjali Talkies in 1981. While addressing the audience he said, " The historic city Aurangabad has huge tourism potential for it has a plethora of heritage monuments like Ajanta Caves, Ellora Caves, Daulatabad Fort, Bibi ka Maqbara, Panchakki etc. Hence the citizens should encash it."

The Cdr. Anil Save said, " My father Moreshwar Save established Anjali Talkies. The great megastar Dilip Sahab was invited to inaugurate it. The first released film in it was Shaan. He was impressed on seeing a big screen and said that he had never seen such a big screen in any of the cinema theatres in Maharashtra. There was a huge and mad rush of his fans gathered on the road from Khadkeshwar to Nageshwarwadi to see him."
