Bees attack tourists at Ajanta caves; 10 injured
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
Around 2 pm on Sunday, a swarm of bees attacked tourists at the world-renowned Ajanta caves, reportedly triggered by rising temperatures in the region. Ten tourists sustained injuries in the incident, while the timely intervention of a security guard prevented a larger mishap.
As the mercury soared in the afternoon, bees from a nearby hive suddenly swarmed out and began stinging visitors in the cave area. Security guard Samadhan Age, who was on duty at the time, quickly assessed the situation and stopped other tourists from moving ahead, thereby averting further injuries. The injured tourists were immediately provided first aid at the Archaeological Department’s office and later referred for further medical treatment. Owing to the alertness shown by the guard, a potentially serious situation was brought under control, though panic prevailed in the area for some time.
