Padma Shri Chaitram Pawar was felicitated at a civic ceremony held at the MGM auditorium on Saturday evening. Speaking at the event, Pawar emphasized that his work is not based on awards but on the continuous expansion of efforts.
He acknowledged the significant role played by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram in his journey, stating that their support and inspiration have been instrumental. He also highlighted the contributions of Hedgewar Hospital’s team, which regularly visits Baripada to provide assistance. Pawar dedicated the honor not just to himself but to the villagers, RSS, and numerous Kalyan Ashram volunteers who have tirelessly contributed to the cause. Bhaiyyaji Joshi, senior member of the RSS national executive, praised Pawar as a remarkable example of how inner drive, social commitment, and unwavering determination can help overcome adversity. Padma Shri Chaitram Pawar was honoured by Bhaiyyaji Joshi and MGM Chancellor Ankushrao Kadam. His wife, Vimalatai Pawar, was felicitated by Swati Padalkar with a traditional sari and blouse. A citation of honor was read by Dr. Shriram Patki.

Dr. Anand Phatak provided an overview of the tribal welfare projects undertaken by Devgiri Kalyan Ashram and their various developmental initiatives. A documentary showcasing Baripada’s sustainable development efforts was also presented.
