Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The BJP has demanded the immediate cancellation of the membership of AIMIM corporator Mehraj Khan, after it was allegedly revealed during a police investigation that he has three children, which violates the eligibility norms. A BJP delegation, led by city president Kishor Shitole, submitted a request to the municipal commissioner.

Following the demolition of properties belonging to AIMIM corporator Matin Patel, the BJP has now turned its focus towards Mehraj Khan, taking legal action within the framework of the law.

The corporator Khan was earlier booked in connection with an alleged murderous assault on local Islam Party leader Rafat Yar Khan. During the investigation, his minor son was also held. Further inquiry reportedly revealed discrepancies in the age documentation of the minor, leading to allegations of forged records. Two days ago, the corporator was arrested again after another case was registered against him.

The BJP delegation met Municipal Commissioner Amol Yedge on Wednesday evening and submitted their memorandum demanding cancellation of Khan’s membership. The delegation included standing committee chairman Anil Makariye, Rajgaurav Wankhede, corporators Shilparani Wadkar, Dr Sunita Salunke, Rameshwar Bhadve, Chhaya Khajekar, Jalindar Shendge, and others.
