Burglary in N-3: gold and Rs 5.78 lakh stolen

A burglary took place in N-3, where thieves broke into a house belonging to a family that had traveled to Gujarat and stole gold, silver jewelry, and Rs 5.78 lakh in cash. The incident came to light on Thursday.
Amit Malani (50), an automobile spare parts businessman, resides in N-3 with his family. On March 1, they left for Ahmedabad to visit their son. On March 5, at around 11 am, Dinesh Ratnaparkhe, who regularly cleaned the house, found the home ransacked and immediately informed Malani. Malani returned to the city on March 6 and reported the incident to the police. ACP Dr Ranjit Patil, PI Krishna Shinde, and ASI Sunil Mhaske visited the crime scene.
Stolen items:
• 4 tolas of diamond-studded mangalsutra and earrings
• Two 8-gram gold rings
• A 3-gram borbindi
• 11 silver Laxmi coins
• 15 units of silver chain and anklets
• Rs 5,78,200 in cash

Break-in method
The house has a kitchen window with iron bars. The thieves cut the bars and used their hands to slide the locks on the door from the inside. They broke into a bedroom’s iron cupboard and stole the valuables. Before leaving, they locked the kitchen door from the outside to avoid suspicion. The police suspect that the burglary was pre-planned and involved prior surveillance. A case has been registered at the Pundaliknagar police station, and ASI Sunil Mhaske is investigating the matter.
