Aurangabad, Feb 15:

A city based businessman was duped of Rs 10 lakh with the

lure of doubling the Bitcoin. The Cyber Police have registered a case against

three fraudsters in this regard.

Businessman, Deepak Hansraj Patel (Shreyanagar) runs a

markeing and consultancy business on Social media for the past 10 to 15 years.

In 2018, he purchased 20 crypto currency ‘Bitcoin’ through an app, for which,

he spent Rs 9.50 lakh from his ICICI Bank account. Later, in 2019, he started

transactions in Bitmex – a crypto currency exchanger. Meanwhile, he met one

Dipendra Sharma on social media named ‘Teligram’. He told Patel that he started

a new business name Trade Night Crypto Signal for which he will need his help

for marking on social media. Sharma lured Patel to invest in Bitcoin to gain

maximum profit. Accordingly, Patel on December 23 and 31 invested in 17

Bitcoins. Sharma assured to give him 34 Bitcoins in March 2020 on Telegram social

media. On March 25, he returned 5 Bitcoins but did not return the remaining

coin. Again, in April, Sharma gave 5.42 Bitcoins to him.

Later, Patel demanded Sharma for the remaining

bitcoins. However, Sharma threatened him that he will upload his video in which

he was explaining about the benefits of the bitcoin, his mobile number and IP

number on social media. Later, Sharma blosed Patel on Telegram and fled away.

In October, 2020, Fedrico Goieldhomr Borozo Dos Santos from Brazil chatted with

Patel on Telegram and told him that he is Dipesh Sharma and he should return his

Bitcoins or he will lodge a case against him. He lodged a complaint at the

Andheri East Police Station against Patel that he had stolen his 350 bitcoins.

He threatened Patel took away his 17 bitcoins.

Santos’ lawyer Abhimanyu S contacted Patel and told him that he should pay him

Rs 10 lakh if he has to withdrew the case. Accordingly, Patel sent Rs 10 lakh

on his account.
