Aurangabad, June 9:

The CIIGMA Group of Hospitals has launched the first ever robotic surgery unit in Marathwada. The 'Versius Surgical Robotic System' is used for complex cancer surgeries, major gynaecological surgery, said Dr Unmesh Takalkar, chairman and managing director CIIGMA hospital.

Giving more information, Dr Takalkar said, Versius has been designed to make the cost of performing robotic MAS affordable whilst delivering high-quality patient care. This allows to deliver procedures traditionally performed via open surgery through a minimal access technique. The Versius system has a small form factor, versatility, and portability, and is designed to support surgeons to deliver the benefits of minimal access surgery to patients around the world, Takalkar said. The form factor and modular design includes individually cart-mounted arms, allowing it to move between operating rooms and even hospital, giving the surgical team access to patients at all times. The system also includes 3D HD vision, easy-to-adopt instrument control and a choice of ergonomic working positions, aimed to reduce stress and fatigue to help extend the careers of surgeons. Director and CEO Dr Manisha Takalkar, CEO medical Dr Ajay Rotte were present.
