In a major development, Uno Minda Limited has scaled up its investment commitment to Rs 550 crore for its upcoming greenfield EV powertrain facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar a significant jump from the previously announced Rs 210 crore.
The plant, to be set up through Uno Minda Auto Innovations Private Limited, will manufacture Electric Drive Units (EDUs) and Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) systems. The expansion, backed by fresh orders from a key customer a leading vendor for Toyota will be developed in phases over the next two years. The facility will cater to rising demand for BEVs, HEVs, PHEVs, and REEVs while strengthening localisation of high-voltage technologies in India.
This will be Uno Minda's second EV powertrain project after its upcoming Khed City plant in Pune, expected to begin operations in the second half of FY27. Managing director Ravi Mehra said the expansion will enhance manufacturing capacity and strengthen the company's leadership in India's sustainable mobility sector.
