In the backdrop of the new strain of Coronavirus, the district collector Sunil Chavan today has clarified that the night curfew in the district (excluding municipal corporation area) is extended. It will continue to remain effective from 11 pm to 6 am till January 31. Earlier, the curfew was from December 22 to January 5.

There was the strict implementation of a curfew in the urban sector (AMC limit) from December 22. The civic personnel claimed to have taken action was taken against hotels, establishments or shops found open till 10.30 pm.

The collector clarified that his orders exclude the police commissioner''s area. The orders of the CP will be implemented in his jurisdiction.

It is learnt that the municipal commissioner has been declared as Competent Authority to tackle the Covid-19. Hence he will be taking all necessary preventive and precautionary measures in controlling the Coronavirus. The letter issued by the chief secretary also underlined that the municipal commissioner would take an appropriate decision over the closure of the market and shops in the AMC jurisdiction.
