Aurangabad, Nov 2:

The Corona crisis is receding in the district as the number of patients, serious patients and the oxygen demand has gone down considerably. It is a sigh of relief for the residents and the health machinery on the advent of Diwali.

The district was grappled with the Corona crisis since March. The situation became more severe in May as the non-symptomatic and serious patients were rising daily. The number of most serious patients was reported during August and September. The oxygen and ICU beds were completely occupied while the patients had to wait for ventilators for two-three days. The demand for oxygen was also increased then. However, the situation is receding now and the demand for oxygen has reduced.

In the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where there are maximum Corona patients, the oxygen demand has reduced by 50 percent.

People had not celebrated several festivals in the past seven months and the enthusiasm also vanished. However, the number of positive patients in the district decreased rapidly since last month. Now, Diwali is heading ahead bring a new ray of hope and enthusiasm among the people.

In April, the demand for oxygen in the district was 139.96 metric tones (MT), 175.96 MT in May, 323.22 MT in June, 487.62 MT in July, 755.76 in August and 482.01 in September. On an average, around 8 MT oxygen is used in the Aurangabad tehsil daily. Earlier, there were 115 Covid Care Centres in the district, which reduced to 63 now, the sources informed.
