The Aurangabad Bench has directed the police commissioner to take a decision within four weeks on applications filed in a Rs 14.50 lakh cheating case related to job fraud in a bank recruitment scam. The bench, comprising Justice Sandipkumar More and Justice Abasaheb Shinde, disposed of the petition after the government counsel assured prompt action.

The case involves allegations that Shaikh Jafar, his wife Shaikh Hasina, and Shaikh Shabana cheated job aspirants by promising bank jobs since 2014. A vegetable vendor Sunil Gawali (Rs 5 lakh), Sachin Gawali (Rs 3.50 lakh), and Digambar Chavan (Rs 6 lakh) were among those allegedly defrauded. Cheques issued by the accused bounced. An FIR was registered at Begampura police station in 2018, and a chargesheet was filed in 2020, but recovery and further action remained pending, prompting the petition.
