High Court directs police commissioner to decide within four weeks in Rs 14.50 lakh cheating case

The Aurangabad Bench of the High Court has directed the Police Commissioner to take a decision within four weeks in a petition alleging police inaction in a Rs 14.50 lakh job fraud case.

The court disposed of the petition after the government pleader assured that the petitioner’s applications would be decided promptly. The bench of Justice Sandipkumar More and Justice Abasaheb Shinde issued the direction while closing the matter.

Case details

It is alleged that Sheikh Jafar Sheikh Usman, his wife Sheikh Hasina, and Sheikh Shabana Syed Inamdar from Mill Corner conspired since 2014 to cheat job seekers by promising bank jobs. Sunil Ashok Gawli was allegedly cheated of Rs 5 lakh, while Sachin Gawli and Dighambar Chavan lost Rs 3.50 lakh and Rs 6 lakh respectively. No jobs were provided, and issued cheques bounced. An FIR was registered at the Begumpura Police Station in 2018 and a chargesheet was filed in 2020, but no recovery action followed. The petitioner submitted representations to the Police Commissioner on March 8, 2022, and November 28, 2025, seeking action and recovery. With no response, the matter was moved to the High Court in 2026.
