Commissioner of Police, Dr Nikhil Gupta on Monday directed the heads of various city police stations to take immediate action on the complaints received, go to the spot and maintain the register of action taken. He said the policemen doing excellent will be felicitated during the monthly review meeting and action will be taken for negligence.

In the backdrop of the increasing criminal activities in the city, CP Gupta called a meeting on Monday afternoon with the police stations'' heads through the wireless set. He said, the complainants lodge complaints on phones or personally. The policemen should communicate with them in polite manner. The duty officers should take note of each complaint. Immediate action should be taken on he complaints. The complaints can be cognizable and non-cognizable and hence the officers should visit the spots and understand the case. Try to solve the issue through mediation and take action if not possible. The action taken in each case should be maintained in a register. The station Amaldar should check the register regularly and no negligence will be tolerated in it. The responsible officer will have to answer. The policemen doing good work will be felicitated, Dr Gupta said.
