Aurangabad, Dec 2:

The Crime Branch has started gaining information about the government servants, who have acquired government jobs in the 5 percent sports quotas in the past 10 years. The Crime Branch has sent letters in this regard to all the district collectors and district treasury officers in the state.

A sandal of gaining government jobs in the sports quota on the basis of bogus sports certificates came to the fore recently. Cases have been registered in all 188 such sportspersons at the Jawaharnagar police station. Out of the 188 persons, 48 have gained anticipatory bails from the court. The suspects who have been granted anticipatory bail have to be present at the crime branch on each alternate day. The police officers are thoroughly inquiring about each of these suspects. Many have gained government jobs on the basis of the bogus certificates of Tambling and other sports events. These sports certificates had come to the division sports deputy director office of verification. A racket was active to issue the bogus national-level and state-level first, second and third positions sports certificates of the competitions, which was never held with the forged signature of the then gazetted officer Nitin Karir. It was found that in all 269 certificates in two sporting events were bogus. Many of these candidates are in government jobs now and are hiding the information. Hence, the police have sought information about the persons recruited in the government jobs in sports quotas for the past 10 years. Letters have been issued to the district collectors and district treasury officers in this regard.
