A police raid at Hotel Nandini in MIDC Waluj has exposed an alleged cross-border human trafficking and sex racket involving Bangladeshi women illegally brought into India through agents.
Based on a complaint by Crime Branch PSI Jagannath Menkudale, MIDC Waluj Police registered a case under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. Five women were rescued on April 2, of whom three aged 21, 23, and 33 were identified as Bangladeshi nationals through verified identity documents. Investigators said the women were brought into India through border routes without valid visas, then shifted through multiple cities before being brought to Waluj. Police suspect an organised interstate and cross-border trafficking network that lures economically vulnerable women with promises of jobs and better income, using industrial areas, labour colonies, and hotels for operations. As the rescued women are treated as victims under the law, the first-class judicial magistrate Court No. 13 ordered their repatriation to Bangladesh through rehabilitation procedures. The process has begun through Savitribai Phule Women's Hostel. Police are continuing efforts to trace agents, border links, and the larger trafficking network. The investigation is being conducted under senior police inspector Rameshwar Gade, with constables Balasaheb Andhale and Rajabhau Kolhe playing key roles in the probe.
