Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) administration is set to present the financial budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 on Thursday (March 27). This is expected to be the last budget during the administrative tenure. As in previous years, the administration has prioritised a variety of projects. The budget will also include loans amounting to nearly Rs 1,100 crore, which means that there might not be much scope for development works. Since April 2020, there have been no elected representatives in the municipal corporation. Hence from 2021-22 onwards, the administrator has been presenting the budget every year.

It is expected that municipal elections will be held during the upcoming Diwali, which means this budget may be the last one under the current administration. The budget presented last year also included innovative projects and this year, there is speculation that the Parks and Fire Brigade departments will receive significant allocations.

To fund new water supply schemes, the municipal corporation will need to borrow Rs 822 crore, and for drainage schemes, it will require a loan of Rs 266 crore. The total debt mentioned in the budget will amount to approximately Rs 1,100 crore.

Budget presentation at 12.30 pm

Every year, the annual budget is typically presented at the municipal corporation headquarters. However, this year, the administration has scheduled the presentation for Thursday at 12.30 pm, near the Lokhandi Pool at the Khama Riverbed. Administrator G Sreekanth will present the budget at this location.
