Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Two days ago, the accused Nida Khan was arrested from the Naregaon residence of AIMIM corporator Matin Patel. On Saturday, acting on the instructions of Mayor Sameer Rajurkar, civic officials pasted a notice on Patel’s house. The notice states that documents relating to ownership of the plot and construction permission must be submitted within three days. It also warns that if the documents are not produced, the structure will be treated as unauthorised and demolished.

Nida Khan has been accused of attempting to convert women religiously. A case was registered against her by Nashik Police. She had reportedly been absconding for the past few days. Nashik Police and local police received information that she was staying in the Naregaon area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. In a joint operation conducted two days ago, police arrested her from a house in Naregaon. It later emerged that the house belonged to the above AIMIM corporator. Consequently, the police also named him as an accused.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and the party’s state president Imtiaz Jaleel dismissed the matter as a ‘media trial’ and claimed that Nida Khan would ultimately be proven innocent.

Meanwhile, BJP Mayor Sameer Rajurkar directed the administration to obtain complete details regarding Matin Patel’s house. A preliminary inquiry reportedly found the structure to be unauthorised. Accordingly, officers and staff from the anti-encroachment section pasted a notice on the property on Saturday afternoon, creating considerable commotion in the area.

What the notice states

The notice says that the house owned by the corporator is located in Bismillah Colony in the Naregaon area. It further mentions that Plot No. 2 contains a six-room structure, and that certain shops have also been constructed there for commercial use. According to the notice, the entire construction is unauthorised. Before demolition action is taken, Matin Patel has been asked to present his explanation within three days. If no response is submitted, the matter will be decided ex parte.

If the house is found unauthorised...

When contesting the municipal elections, Matin Patel had submitted an affidavit stating that there was no unauthorised construction anywhere in the city in his name. If the present property is officially declared unauthorised, he could face another serious threat in the form of possible disqualification.
